Spring 2014 Workshops



OUR CURRENT SCHEDULE OF WORKSHOPS (RSVP your place in the class now; contact us: 207-793-2784, or director@willowbrookmuseum.org:         

                                                                                                                                        
  1. Sat., April 19, 9AM-4PM, MAKE A BOWIE KNIFE. Under the tutelage of Bladesmith Adriaan Gerber, forge this famous knife design with spring steel. $125
  2. Sun., April 20, 9AM-3PM. MAKE YOUR OWN METAL CASTING FURNACE OR BLACKSMITHING FORGE. Includes entire kit, including refractory cement, and individual instruction on assembly. $200
  3. Fri., April 25, 9AM-1PM, MAKE A CATAPULT. Using post and beam construction on a small scale make this throw back to earlier times. For kids and adults. $40
  4. Mon. thru Fri., May 19-23, 10AM-4PM ( 5 days). TIMBERFRAMING AND BLACKSMITHING. Build a structure with mortise and tenon joinery.  Make your own wood chisels (slicks) for the purpose. Tools and materials supplied for class. Tuition:$675  ROOM AND BOARD (in old mill next to waterfalls) option for additional cost: $325 Room, $175 Board, Set of tools with wooden tool box:$125
  5. Sat., May 24, 9AM-3PM, BLACKSMITHING AND FLINT NAPPING/FLINT & STEEL FIRE MAKING (and cooking). Create a kit that includes striker, striking stone, char cloth, tinder, learn a survival fire lay. Cook food provided outdoors. $125
  6. Sun., May 25, 12-3PM, JEWELRY PEWTER CASTING FOR KIDS & ADULTS. Learn no-lead pewter casting and create original designs using traditional techniques. No experience required.
